After 28 years Dawn and her team at Bates Interior Design has maintained the same love for interior design, having fulfilled the needs of hundreds of satisfied homeowners and respected home builders throughout the Calgary and Edmonton Market.

Dawn’s philosophy as a designer is simple: “Translate each client’s unique needs into a clean, modern, and livable space that their buyers can envision living in for years to come.” This client-focused approach has resonated with many of Dawn’s clients and has resulted in not only lasting business relationships but great word-of-mouth referrals.

Meet Dawn Bates

Who knew an early fascination with Meccano and Lego sets would lead Dawn Bates to an acclaimed career in interior design in Calgary?

Having recognized her interest for design at an early age, Dawn was not your typical teenager. As a self-motivated high schooler, she spent her weekend’s touring show home parades and home building suppliers in her hometown of Edmonton. It was during this time, Dawn began gathering a basic knowledge of colour palettes, fabrics, and innovations in design. After two unhappy years in pre-law, Dawn realized she needed to be more creatively challenged; choosing instead to supplement her passion for design with an education in architecture from NAIT. It turned out to be a life-changing decision, one that Dawn has never looked back on.
